A few years ago I had a small mixed-breed dog named Kiki. One night, she went into labor for the first time. It was almost 1am, and I had no idea which clinics were still open. I drove around the district until I found one. Kiki had two puppies. Only one cried.
A few years later, I lost Kiki to tick fever. Caught early, it's just a course of antibiotics. But I had no record — no weight history, no clinic visits, no patterns. By the time I knew, it was already too late.
